Why: This is not just a show, as you can prob­a­bly tell by the start time. First and fore­most, this is a book launch for David O’Dell’s new memoir/history of the punk scene, Insep­a­ra­ble. You might have seen it on sale at the Gen­jing stands around Bei­jing, but this is its first foray into the wider world of the music scene. David will be on hand to give a talk, and answer ques­tions, and show of mem­o­ra­bilia. There’s also going to be a char­ity auc­tion, to ben­e­fit Half The Sky children’s orphan­age, as well as the bands listed above. It’s going to be an epic day and night on the lawns and inside, so get on over and check it out and sup­port both the punk scene and a good cause.

Also on Sat­ur­day night, DJ Shadow returns to Bei­jing for a set at Yugong Yis­han, from 9PM, 280/200RMB. On Fri­day night at 2 Kole­gas, Res­i­dence A and The Amaz­ing Insur­ance Sales­men take the stage with a secret spe­cial guest and their adorable new drum­mer, 10PM, 50RMB. Also on Fri­day night, Aus­tralian singer-songwriter Jamie Hutch­ings plays Hot Cat Club for free, but if you’re into pay­ing and have plans, check him out tomor­row night at Jianghu Jiuba, 9PM, 40RMB. And finally, on Sun­day, XP’s After­noon Ses­sion will eas­ily be a crowd-pleaser, with Mr. Grace­less, an awe­some new indie rock out­fit called Baby For­mula, and The Plan­ets, 3PM, 40RMB.
